How to Use a State Scheme Well
Treat it as a base layer
State schemes pay for fixed treatment packages at empanelled hospitals. They are valuable, but not a replacement for your own health policy.
Enrol before you need it
Get your card made while you are well. Sorting eligibility during an emergency is slow.
Ask the hospital's scheme desk
Empanelled hospitals have an Arogya Mitra or similar desk that checks eligibility and handles the paperwork.
