Insurance and Pension Schemes
NPS, in Brief
The National Pension System is the government's own retirement account, open to any citizen aged 18 to 70. Unlike PPF or EPF, there is no fixed declared rate, your money goes into a mix of equity, corporate debt and government securities funds that you choose, so the return moves with the market. Contributions to NPS Tier I qualify for tax deduction, including an extra ₹50,000 under Section 80CCD(1B) that sits on top of the regular ₹1.5 lakh Section 80C limit. You can track your own NPS account on the Assets page, it sits right alongside PPF and EPF there.
