    Tips for the Cleanest Import

    Bank statements

Download Excel or CSV from net banking where you can, it is more exact than PDF. Three to twelve months gives steady monthly averages.

    Locked PDFs

Payslips are often locked with your PAN in capitals or your date of birth as DDMMYYYY. CAMS and KFintech statements use the password you set when requesting them, often your PAN.

    Freelancers

A simple sheet with Date, Client, Amount, TDS and GST columns is enough. Add Form 26AS or AIS from the income tax portal to see the TDS your clients deducted.

    Old Excel files

Some banks still give the old binary .xls format, which browsers cannot read. Open it once and save it as .xlsx or CSV.

    This PDF Is Locked

needs its password to open. It is used only to open the file here and is not saved.

Common ones: PAN in capitals (ABCDE1234F), date of birth (DDMMYYYY), or the first four letters of your name with your birth year.
